Senior Backend Developer

SUMMARY

Leads the technical migration from Lovable Cloud to self-hosted Supabase — including database, APIs, auth, and storage layers. Must have prior experience migrating hosted or PaaS workloads to self-managed infrastructure, with a strong grasp of Supabase internals, RLS policy design, and production security hardening. Future phases will extend this work toward AWS infrastructure.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Architect and execute the migration from Lovable Cloud to self-hosted Supabase (Docker-based deployment on VPS or cloud VM)

Design and enforce Row Level Security policies across all relevant tables, ensuring data isolation and access control are production-grade from day one

Own database schema design, query optimisation, and migration scripts

Implement authentication flows using Supabase Auth, including session management and secure token handling

Set up environment parity (dev/staging/prod) with proper config and secrets management

Integrate monitoring and alerting across the Supabase stack (database health, API latency, auth errors, storage)

Collaborate with the Security Engineer on backend hardening, including network policies, service exposure, and secrets hygiene

REQUIREMENTS

6+ years backend development (Node.js, Python, or similar)

Proven experience self-hosting Supabase or equivalent open-source BaaS (PostgREST, GoTrue, Storage)

Deep PostgreSQL skills — RLS, roles, policies, query optimisation

Experience with containerised deployments (Docker, Compose)

Familiarity with monitoring tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)

AWS experience a plus — future infrastructure phases will involve EC2/ECS, RDS/Aurora, and S3
