About Palana

Palana delivers regulatory reporting and data processing at scale across Europe and the UK. Our platform performs regulatory computations (PRIIP, MiFID II, UCITS) and generates compliance-critical documents at scale for asset managers and asset servicers:

• 420+ prospectuses
• 18,500+ SFDR annexes
• 75,000+ EU/UK PRIIP KIDs
• 7,200+ UK UCITS KIIDs
• 100,000+ monthly report distributions

You'll build and maintain the systems that power regulatory calculations and their delivery at scale and in near real-time.

In this role, you will

• Design and deliver features end-to-end: own feature design (data model, APIs, UI), implementation, testing, and deployment. You ship independently; your dev lead reviews architecture decisions for cross-system impact.
• Build scalable regulatory computation and reporting systems: you will design, build, and maintain scalable applications supporting large-scale regulatory reporting and data processing, including tens of thousands of reports delivered annually across multiple jurisdictions.
• Contribute to platform reliability: debug complex systems, optimize database queries and computation pipelines, ensure correctness under production load, and support live systems handling tens of thousands of concurrent reports.
• Collaborate across teams: partner with data, operations, and product teams to deliver features that satisfy evolving regulatory requirements and client needs. Your dev lead will be your go-to for architecture questions, design reviews, and onboarding.

What you'll bring

Required

• Solid experience in Java development (Java 17+), including Spring Boot frameworks
• Good understanding of relational databases (SQL), data modelling principles, and familiarity with enterprise database systems such as Oracle
• Exposure to reporting or data platforms (e.g. Jasper or similar tools)
• Strong experience in front-end technologies (Angular or similar)
• AWS fundamentals (EC2, RDS at minimum)
• Version control (AWS CodeCommit) and CI/CD pipeline experience
• Daily use of AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate coding, testing, and debugging
• Experience working in structured environments with production constraints and delivery deadlines
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (data, operations, product)
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
• English mandatory;

Preferred

• Prior experience in regulatory reporting or financial computations (PRIIP, SFDR, UCITS, KID/KIID)
• Experience with data-heavy systems or calculation pipelines
• Production systems with high availability/SLA requirements
• French preferred

AI-enabled engineering (how you'll work)

You'll use GitHub Copilot, or similar tools as part of your daily workflow:

• Generate and refine tests; accelerate debugging and investigation
• Write and improve documentation; draft code for review
• Experiment with new AI capabilities and share learnings with the team

This is not optional—it's how we ship faster and iterate on features. You'll help identify where AI adds value and where it creates risk (especially around regulatory data).
