SD-WAN Field Support

A field engineer is required to support the following activities.

Required Materials

• Laptop

o PuTTY installed

o Microsoft Teams installed

• Cisco Console Cables

o Two (2) console cables from different vendors

• USB Pen Drives

o Two (2) units

o Capacity not to exceed 16 GB

• Mobile Hotspot

o Internet access for laptop connectivity (Recommend 2 from different carriers)

• Patch Cords

o Two (2) CAT6 cables, 7 feet each

Scope of Activities

• Field Technician Arrival

o The technician must arrive one (1) hour prior to the scheduled start time.

o The site contact will escort the technician to the Network/MDF room.

• Remote Access Setup (Approximately 30 minutes)

o Join the Microsoft Teams call.

o Provide remote access to the HCL engineer using the technician’s laptop and mobile hotspot.

• Primary Router Upgrade (Approximately 1.5–2 hours)

o Load the new IOS image onto the USB drive (Balata will need to provide) and connect it to the router.

o Connect the console cable to the router.

o Provide remote access through Microsoft Teams during the upgrade.

• Secondary Router Upgrade (Approximately 1.5–2 hours)

o Load the new IOS image onto the USB drive and connect it to the router.

o Connect the console cable to the router.

o Provide remote access through Microsoft Teams during the upgrade.

• Failover Testing (Approximately 30–45 minutes)

• Post-UAT Review and Wrap-Up
