Business Data Analyst

Work Model: Hybrid

Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension or conversion depending upon Business needs and Performance).

About the role: This role is part of a Data & Technology Enablement team within Financial Risk Management. The team partners with risk stakeholders across the client to enhance data quality, streamline reporting processes, and enable scalable, cloud-based data solutions. The position combines business analysis, data analytics, and stakeholder engagement to support large-scale data transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with risk management stakeholders (Credit, Market, and Liquidity Risk) to understand and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Analyze end-to-end data flows and trace data lineage from reporting layers back to source systems.
• Develop Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documentation and document metadata and transformations.
• Support the migration of large datasets into cloud platforms, specifically within the Azure ecosystem.
• Drive automation and process improvements using tools like Power BI and Alteryx.
• Track progress across multiple workstreams and lead status reporting for senior stakeholders.

Must Have Responsibilities:

• Lead change initiatives impacting multiple stakeholders and processes using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
• Document business requirements and define scope and objectives aligned with overall business strategies.
• Support the Risk Data Factory aimed at centralizing and curating data on Azure cloud.
• Interpret regulatory reporting requirements and translate them into data requirements and reporting solutions.

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Business Analysis or Data Analysis within financial services.
• Strong experience in Financial Risk Management (Credit Risk is high priority; Market or Liquidity Risk is also considered).
• Proven experience in data lineage, data mapping, and documentation (STTM and reporting logic).
• Experience in Banking and Financial services with leading organizations in core banking, Capital Markets, or consulting.

Skillsets:

• Power BI (dashboards, reporting, and visualization).
• Azure ecosystem (Azure, Databricks, Synapse).
• SQL Server and advanced Excel skills.
• MS Office products and Visio.
• Project Methodology knowledge (Waterfall and Agile).

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.

Additional Details: While currently 2 days a week, the requirement may increase to 3 or more days onsite in the future. There is no travel required for this role.
