Network and Security Associate (Early Morning Shifts)

Our client is looking for a Network & Security Operations Engineer to support and operate our global, high‑performance trading infrastructure. This role focuses on hands‑on network and security operations, Palo Alto firewalls, packet‑level troubleshooting, and API‑driven automation in a regulated financial services environment. You’ll work closely with engineering, security, and NOC teams to ensure resilience, security, and operational excellence across mission‑critical platforms. Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience in network engineering, security engineering, or infrastructure operations within a production, regulated financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of network technologies and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
• Hands‑on experience with MPLS‑based network environments.
• Proven experience managing Palo Alto firewalls, including Global Protect.
• Advanced skills in packet capture and packet‑level troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining API‑based automation solutions (required)

Key Responsibilities

Network & Security Operations

• Operate and support company global network and security infrastructure, covering routing, switching, and MPLS‑based environments.
• Perform hands‑on configuration, validation, and troubleshooting of production network and security devices.
• Administer and support Palo Alto firewall platforms, including policy management, troubleshooting, and GlobalProtect remote access.
• Participate in network and security incident response, ensuring timely resolution, accurate root cause analysis, and appropriate escalation.

Change Execution & Infrastructure Support

• Execute approved network and security changes, including firewall rule updates, routing adjustments, and infrastructure enhancements.
• Support the deployment of new network, security, and access technologies into production environments.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, testing activities, and controlled rollouts.
• Ensure all changes are implemented safely, consistently, and in compliance with established operational and change management standards.

Automation & Engineering Enablement

• Design, build, and maintain API‑driven automations to support network and security operations (mandatory).
• Integrate automation with network devices, firewall platforms, and monitoring tools using RESTful APIs.
• Apply scripting, automation frameworks, and agent‑based approaches to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.

Monitoring, Documentation & Collaboration

• Monitor the health and performance of network and security environments using established observability platforms.
• Collaborate closely with NOC, Network Engineering, and Security teams to ensure smooth incident handoffs and operational continuity.
• Create and maintain documentation for operational procedures, automation workflows, and support practices to enable knowledge sharing across teams and shifts.

Packet Analysis & Advanced Troubleshooting

• Perform packet captures and detailed packet‑level analysis to diagnose complex network and security issues.
• Analyze TCP behavior, latency, retransmissions, packet loss, and protocol anomalies.
• Provide in‑depth technical analysis and root cause findings for incident and problem management initiatives.
