Mobile Application Developer (Kotlin Multiplatform)

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary £90k

Role Description

This is a hybrid role based in London, combining office and remote work. You will design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for iOS and Android using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform, contributing to the scalability, performance, and usability of core products.

You will also contribute to backend systems (Python, Django, Postgres) where they intersect with mobile workflows, and support future integration with wearable devices for passive data collection.

Key Responsibilities

· Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform

· Apply object-oriented programming principles and modern mobile architecture patterns

· Integrate mobile clients with backend APIs, including clinical interoperability endpoints (FHIR R4)

· Contribute to web application development supporting mobile workflows

· Support wearable device integration (e.g. BLE, embedded data pipelines)

· Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise applications for performance and reliability

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, clinical, research, regulatory)

· Participate in code reviews, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Must Have

· Experience in mobile application development with Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform (production or near-production)

· iOS development experience (required for platform-specific work)

· Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and clean architecture

· Working knowledge of Python (ability to read/write Django code)

· Experience with Git and modern version control workflows

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Right to work in the UK (required)

· Ability to attend a London office as part of hybrid working

Nice to Have

· Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

· JavaScript experience

· Experience in regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, medical devices)

· Familiarity with FHIR, SAML, or enterprise SSO

· Experience with wearable devices, BLE, or embedded systems

· Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred)

· Exposure to agile development practices

· Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, CloudFront, RDS), Terraform

· Frontend: Server-rendered web (Django + HTMX)

· Interoperability: FHIR R4, SAML 2.0, identity management systems
