Senior Front End Developer (APS6)

The Role
As a Senior Front End Developer, you will be part of the National Police Checking Support System Core Team, delivering high-priority ICT initiatives and BAU enhancements. You'll focus on building and uplifting modern, user-centric front-end solutions across critical national systems.
Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, developing and enhancing front-end system components and interfaces
• Delivering interface uplift across NSS and NCCC platforms
• Building front-end components aligned to business and project requirements
• Performing software design, coding, testing and code reviews
• Supporting integration activities (e.g. NCIS transition and NPI system improvements)
• Ensuring seamless, intuitive user experiences across systems
• Maintaining and improving existing front-end architecture and performance

About You
You're a senior front-end specialist who combines strong technical capability with a user-focused mindset and appreciation of WCAG.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
• Experience working in Agile and/or Waterfall ICT delivery environments
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience with documentation and stakeholder communication (MS Office or equivalent)
• Proven experience developing user-facing applications in enterprise environments
• Hands-on expertise across:
  • Java, JEE frameworks
  • Kubernetes / containerisation
  • Oracle, Unix, Windows environments
  • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React
  • API integration and interaction
• Experience integrating third-party (COTS/GOTS) software solutions

• Strong foundation in modern front-end technologies (JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5)
• UI/UX design principles and practical implementation experience
• Experience modernising legacy front-end systems and improving usability
