Product Designer
Location: Sydney CBD, in office 3 days/week
Package: Up to $130k base + Super
The Opportunity:
One of Australia’s fastest-scaling fintechs is hiring a hands-on Product Designer to help shape digital experiences across its consumer finance products.
You’ll work across mobile, responsive web and internal platforms, designing journeys that feel simple for customers while managing complex product, compliance, operational and commercial considerations behind the scenes.
The Role:
- This isn't a design role for someone who only wants to create clean screens from a finished brief. The design function is still maturing, so there is a real opportunity to shape how design operates across the business.
- Reporting into the Lead Product Designer, you’ll help bring more structure, consistency and product thinking to customer-facing and internal experiences, while contributing to a design system that supports mobile, web and operational workflows.
- You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, Operations, Support and senior stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into clear, usable and compliant product experiences.
- That means asking the right questions, mapping scenarios, thinking through edge cases and making design decisions that balance customer experience with commercial, technical and regulatory realities.
What you’ll do:
- Design across mobile app, responsive web and internal support experiences
- Help mature the design system, including components, patterns, taxonomy, naming and documentation
- Work through complex customer journeys, user states, edge cases and compliance requirements
- Turn ambiguous stakeholder requests into well-framed product problems and practical design direction
- Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs and interaction flows in Figma
- Use research, usability testing, analytics and customer insight to validate design decisions
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to balance customer experience, technical constraints and delivery priorities
- Think carefully about UX copy, making sure journeys are clear, compliant and easy to understand
- Use AI thoughtfully to speed up parts of the workflow, while understanding where it can be wrong, biased or unsafe
What you bring:
- Proven product design experience across real web and mobile products, not just brand, campaign or static UI work
- Confidence working from ambiguity, asking sharper questions, mapping scenarios and shaping the problem before jumping into design
- Hands-on experience contributing to or improving a design system, including components, patterns, documentation, naming, taxonomy and consistency
- Advanced Figma skills across flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI, components and design documentation
- Sound product judgement across complex journeys, edge cases, user states, support paths, error states and operational constraints
- Clear UX copy instincts, with the ability to make critical information simple, compliant and easy to understand
- Commercial awareness, with an understanding of how design affects conversion, completion, trust, support load and operational efficiency
- High agency, curiosity and low ego, with the ability to work closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, Operations and senior stakeholders
- Experience in fintech, lending, banking, payments, insurance, wealth, healthtech, govtech or another regulated environment would be highly valued
Applications must include an updated portfolio or website. Those without will not be considered.
