This is your opportunity to provide strategic and operational leadership and direction in protecting the department’s systems and data from cyber threats and ensuring compliance with mandated Queensland government frameworks and legislation. You will lead the delivery of tools and processes to strengthen the department’s Cyber Security posture and reduce risk. With your team you will operate and maintain the department’s Security tools addressing Cyber Incidents, working closely with the Director, ICT Operations to form and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, managing the workflow, performance and day-to-day operational relationships with third party vendors.

As The Manager, Cyber Security, You Will
- Lead proactive analysis of security events and alerts from multiple sources and ensure effective monitoring of networks and endpoints for threats, intrusions and compromises.
- Oversee coordinated and timely cyber incident response, including post-incident review and uplift actions; ensure incident reporting obligations are met in line with Queensland Government requirements.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on cyber security governance, risk assessments, threat landscape, policy matters and opportunities to improve security maturity.
- Measure, assess and report on cyber security maturity, and provide regular reporting on how the department is operating within its cyber risk tolerance.
- Manage implementation and operation of the ISMS in collaboration with governance/risk stakeholders, aligned with IS18 and an ISMS based on ISO/IEC 27001; coordinate compliance reporting and assurance activities.
- Coordinate assessment of the information security environment and develop strategies and plans to address governance, control and assurance requirements.
- Lead development and delivery of cyber security plans, governance arrangements and supporting policies that meet business and operational needs.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external/whole-of-government counterparts; prepare briefs and reports for executive and governance committees.
- Lead and develop a small team and manage day-to-day operational relationships with third-party vendors to deliver secure, reliable cyber security services and continuous improvement outcomes.
- Support delivery of targeted security training and awareness activities to build a culture of security accountability across the department.
