As Principal Project Officer, you will lead the design, planning and delivery of complex projects that support disability reform and improve service delivery outcomes for people with disability. You will apply strong project management expertise to translate strategic priorities into well-defined project plans, ensuing initiatives are delivered on time, within scope and aligned to policy and operational objectives.

You will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills and project management capabilities. You must be organised and deadline driven, have excellent attention to detail, be a leader and team player and be adaptable to rapidly changing and evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.

Two temporary full-time positions available

As a Principal Project Officer You Will

  • be responsible for end-to-end project management, including developing detailed project plans, materials, artefacts, and documents in support of the team's work and related outputs.
  • manage risks and dependencies, coordinate procurement activities and oversee implementation
  • provide high level advice to the Manager and/or Director and departmental senior executives on any project issues or risks that may inhibit the successful delivery of projects.
  • ensure robust governance arrangements are established and maintained, including preparation of high level briefings, progress reports and documentation to support executive decision making.
  • support the team in leading meaningful consultation and engagement processes across government, service providers and key stakeholders to inform project design and ensure initiatives are practical, sustainable and responsive to service delivery needs.
  • develop policies, processes and procedures in line with reform initiatives.
  • apply superior analytical skills to data, take responsibility for reporting on the team's functions and develop recommendations for actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • contribute to the evaluation of initiatives, so as to ensure the project outcomes value-add to the provision of services and achieve the strategic and business objectives of Disability Services.
  • promote a fair, respectful and safe work environment by providing support and guidance to service areas, anticipating and addressing challenges and opportunities that facilitate high performing teams.
  • positively influence the team's professional environment to encourage commitment, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
