Feature Systems Engineers have the end-to-end responsibility for numerous electronic customer features such as stop-start, manual headlamp leveling, beltminder or plug-in charging. They follow a systems engineering approach where they start from understanding the customer and establishing the requirements, moving on to designing and developing the feature and finally testing and validating the end product. They must collaborate with the global Ford organization to receive/cascade information and allocate resources for test & development.
Purpose Of The Role & Responsibilities:
• Lead development and implementation of customer features (e.g. remote start, automatic lock suite, heated windshield) at the systems engineering level from early feature development to production and manage feature upgrade and migration plan.
• Lead development of new features at the systems engineering level from early feature development to production and manage feature upgrade and migration plan.
• Own the end-to-end responsibility of the feature - from the input to the output of the customer.
• Allocate features and functions across electronic modules and subsystems (module, cloud, app, hardware etc.) to meet cost, quality, and customer expectation targets.
• Develop feature specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, feature verification plan, functional safety/cyber security documentation etc.
• Review existing system designs to find new opportunities for cost or quality improvement. Interact with program teams, core engineers and functional areas to create balanced solutions to competing requirements.
• Develop relationships with the supply base to learn about the latest technologies and possible implementations.
• Perform vehicle/HIL/SIL level testing activities to support feature DVP and signoff requirements.
Qualifications Requirements:
• Bachelor’s engineering degree related to position.
• Fluency of written and spoken English.
• Effective at communication skills and contribution to teamwork.
• Willingness to travel abroad on occasion.
