This role sits at the heart of a rapidly scaling observability platform, focused on evolving a globally adopted open-source product into a fully multi-tenant, cloud-native application platform. You will help redesign and simplify core backend architecture to support scalable SaaS experiences and integrated observability applications. The work involves solving complex distributed systems challenges, ensuring high availability, multi-tenancy, and safe rollout of changes across a massive global user base. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to build reliable, high-performance systems that power dashboards, alerts, logs, and traces at scale. The environment is highly collaborative, remote-first, and deeply rooted in open-source innovation. This is a high-impact engineering role where architectural decisions directly shape the future of a global observability ecosystem.

Accountabilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend systems that support a multi-tenant, scalable observability application platform used by millions of users globally.
• Develop new features and improve existing systems while ensuring strong operational performance, reliability, and maintainability in production environments.
• Contribute to and review technical design documents, helping shape architectural direction and long-term platform strategy.
• Take ownership of system behavior in production, participating in on-call rotations and ensuring fast, reliable incident response and resolution.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to align platform changes with broader organizational goals and ensure safe, incremental rollouts.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to raising technical standards across teams through code reviews and shared best practices.
• Improve developer productivity and system efficiency using modern tooling, including AI-assisted development where appropriate.
  
  

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with deep exposure to building and operating large-scale SaaS or distributed systems.
• Proven experience solving challenges such as scalability, high availability, multi-tenancy, and data isolation in production environments.
• Solid programming skills, ideally in Go (Golang), or strong willingness and ability to learn it quickly.
• Hands-on experience owning production systems, including operational responsibilities and incident management.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and observability concepts.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions in writing and in discussions.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working across teams and aligning technical plans with multiple stakeholders.
• Pragmatic engineering approach with the ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize iterative progress over perfection.
