Position Summary

The BI Analyst is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports that give business stakeholders clear, reliable visibility into firm operations. Working closely with teams across the organization, this role translates business questions into well-structured reporting solutions — ensuring that the data our leaders depend on is accurate, timely, and easy to act on.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who cares equally about the craft of effective dashboard design and the rigor of reliable data. The analyst will manage data models and transformations within Power BI, collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, and partner with the Data Platform team to align reporting with evolving data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Dashboard Design and Development

  • Design, build, and publish Power BI dashboards and reports that meet the reporting needs of business stakeholders across the organization.
  • Apply strong data visualization principles to produce dashboards that are clear, intuitive, and decision-ready.
  • Create and maintain Power BI data models, including relationships, calculated columns, and DAX measures that ensure accurate and performant reporting.
  • Build and manage data transformations using Power Query (M) to connect, clean, and shape data from multiple source systems.
  • Develop and maintain report documentation, including dataset definitions, measure logic, and data source inventories.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirements

  • Partner with business users and leadership across departments to gather reporting requirements and understand analytical needs.
  • Translate business questions into structured reporting solutions, managing expectations and communicating timelines clearly.
  • Present dashboards and reporting outputs to stakeholders, walking through methodology and supporting data literacy across the organization.
  • Develop supporting materials and guidance to help end users interpret and effectively use the dashboards you produce.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Ensure published reports are accurate, consistent, and reconciled against source data prior to release.
  • Proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies, working with data owners and IT to address root causes.
  • Maintain a shared understanding of key definitions, metrics, and business rules to promote data consistency across reports.

Platform and Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Data Platform team to align reporting layers with the firm’s evolving data infrastructure.
  • Participate in requirements and design discussions for data pipeline and integration work that affects reporting.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the firm’s reporting portfolio as business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency in English
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, information systems, or a related field
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience designing and building dashboards and reports in Power BI.
  • Solid command of DAX — comfortable writing calculated columns, measures, and time-intelligence functions.
  • Working proficiency in Power Query (M) for data connection, transformation, and shaping.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and working with relational data sources.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling fundamentals, including star schemas, relationships, and dimensional design.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into reporting solutions.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a professional services, legal, or similarly structured organization.
  • Familiarity with Power BI Service administration, including workspace management, row-level security, and scheduled refresh.
  • Exposure to data visualization best practices — layout, color, and dashboard UX principles.
  • Experience working alongside data engineering or platform teams on shared data infrastructure.
