Your new role

We are seeking an experienced API Developer to join an established agile delivery team modernising a 20‑year‑old Work Management System (WMS). This newly created role supports the rebuild and exposure of complex legacy data via modern .NET APIs on Azure, replacing highly coupled, stored‑procedure‑driven workflows.

You will work across system modernisation, data migration, and API enablement, collaborating with a distributed national team (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain RESTful APIs using .NET Core (C#)
  • Modernise legacy WMS integrations by exposing data and business logic through APIs
  • Work with Entity Framework Core for data access and migration strategies
  • Develop, optimise and refactor SQL Server/T‑SQL/stored procedures
  • Support data migration from legacy systems to modern Azure-based services
  • Contribute to system performance, scalability, and resilience improvements
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
  • Collaborate with BAs, testers, solution architects, and product owners
  • Document APIs and technical decisions to support maintainability

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong commercial experience with .NET Core / C# (.NET 5/6; .NET 8/10 exposure highly regarded)
  • Hands-on experience building APIs on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, etc.)
  • Solid Entity Framework Core experience
  • Advanced SQL Server / T-SQL, including stored procedure development and performance tuning
  • Proven experience integrating with or modernising legacy systems (10–20+ years old)
  • Experience with data migration or progressive system modernisation

Ways of Working

  • Comfortable working in agile, distributed teams
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Able to ramp up quickly in complex environments
  • Pragmatic problem-solver with a growth mindset

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Australian citizenship with ability to obtain Baseline security clearance
