Booking.com is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Central Technology team in the Netherlands. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our AWS public cloud network and security infrastructure. - Ensure the reliability, security and availability of Booking.com’s public cloud network infrastructure.
- Operate, maintain, and improve large-scale network infrastructure spanning multiple public cloud vendors and regions.
- Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring through robust scripting and tooling (preferably Python and Terraform).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot networking solutions supporting public cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, proactively address issues and minimize downtime.
- Work with multi-vendor environments, coordinating incident management and resolution.
- Engage with vendors and partners for network support and escalations when necessary.
- Strong knowledge of networking in routing & switching (BGP), TCP/IP stack;
- Solid hands-on experience with AWS Network resources (Transit Gateways, VPCs, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, Gateway Load Balancers, VPNs, Direct Connects, etc);
- Solid experience in network security, deployment and network management of firewalls in public cloud environments like AWS (preferably with Palo Alto)
- Experience in network automation using programming languages like python and terraform (3+ years);
- Familiarity with multi-vendor network environments and associated challenges.
- Familiarity with Internet architectures, Internet security (RPKI, IRR), peering at global exchange points;
- Demonstrated skills in incident response and vendor management.
