Are you an experienced, highly technical, and impact-driven Data Scientist who enjoys diving deep into complex systems? Do you want to work on the analytical backbone that enables the entire company to make better commercial and product decisions?
At Vio, our mission is to get every traveler the best accommodation deal, worldwide. A core enabler of this mission is our Offers Management Platform - a large-scale, complex system that determines which accommodation offers we request, store and distribute across all channels and markets.
We are looking for a Senior Product Data Scientist to own analytics for this platform and to partner closely with product managers and engineers to evolve and optimise it. This role is not about UI optimization - it is about understanding how the system truly works end-to-end, inventing robust experimentation and measurement frameworks, and applying causal inference to guide our decisions.
About the role
You will join a cross-functional team responsible for the Offers Management Platform, which sits at the heart of our marketplace. The system defines which offers will be requested from our suppliers, saved in our cache and further served to the end users or B2B partners and directly impacts revenue, and partner performance across the entire company.
Your role is to make this system measurable and optimise its performance.
You will work closely with backend engineers and product managers on system design decisions, define how success should be measured, and build analytical frameworks that allow us to reason about cause and effect in a highly interdependent environment.
What you will do
Own analytics for the Offers Management Platform
- Develop a deep understanding of how offers are requested, saved and distributed
- Translate complex system behaviour into clear metrics and models
- Act as the analytical reference point for all questions related to offers system performance
Experimentation & causal inference
- Design and own experimentation strategies for system-level changes where classic A/B testing is not appropriate
- Apply causal inference techniques (e.g. diff-in-diff, PSM) to evaluate impact in complex, non-isolated settings
- Ensure statistical excellence and clear decision-making in high-impact experiments
Product & engineering collaboration
- Work closely with engineers to understand implementation details and data generation mechanisms
- Influence system design to improve observability and measurability
- Partner with product managers to define success criteria, trade-offs, and long-term platform strategy
Insights & enablement
- Build scalable data models, dashboards, and monitoring to track system health and performance
- Perform deep-dive analyses to identify inefficiencies, unintended consequences, and optimization opportunities
- Clearly communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Raise the analytics bar
- Contribute to experimentation and causal inference best practices across the analytics chapter
- Mentor other analysts/scientists and help define standards for system-level analysis
The team
You will report to Gleb - our Marketplace Analytics Lead, and work closely with:
- Product managers responsible for the Offers Management Platform
- Backend engineers building large-scale decision systems
- Data scientists working on models and optimization
- A horizontal analytics chapter for knowledge sharing and peer review
Who you are
- 6+ years of hands-on experience using data to drive product or platform decisions
- Strong experience with experimentation, including scenarios where standard A/B testing is not enough
- Solid practical knowledge of causal inference methods and when to apply them
- Highly analytical and comfortable reasoning about complex, interconnected systems
- Excellent SQL skills and experience building data models
- Strong Python or R skills for statistical analysis
- Experience working closely with engineering teams on technical systems
- Able to independently lead ambiguous, high-impact analytical projects
- Clear communicator who can explain complex concepts and trade-offs to stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with marketplace, ranking, or decision systems
- Exposure to large-scale backend or platform products
- Experience designing experimentation infrastructure or tooling
We encourage people from all ethnic groups, genders, sexuality, ages and abilities to apply. If this job description resonates with you, we want to hear from you!
