Senior Network Engineer | Onsite in Devens, MA | Up to $135,000 DOE

A long-established organisation with over a century of success in its industry is looking to hire a Senior Network Engineer. They are seeking someone who enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced environment and can take ownership of network security and performance.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead initiatives to strengthen and secure network infrastructure using best practices
  • Identify and resolve security gaps across LAN, WAN, and cloud-connected environments
  • Establish and maintain secure configurations across firewalls, switches, and network devices
  • Design and implement network segmentation strategies to reduce risk
  • Review and improve network topology for both security and efficiency
  • Support the move toward more modern security frameworks such as zero trust
  • Own firewall strategy, including policy design and lifecycle management
  • Audit and optimise firewall rules and introduce governance processes
  • Ensure high availability, redundancy, and failover across infrastructure
  • Identify and remove single points of failure
  • Manage and optimise switching environments, including VLAN design
  • Support hybrid infrastructure across on-prem and cloud (Azure)
  • Extend security controls into cloud environments
  • Participate in on-call support as part of a 24/7 environment
  • Document architecture, standards, and procedures
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and security posture
  • Work closely with IT leadership to align technical strategy with business goals


What You Bring

  • 8+ years of network engineering experience with a strong security focus
  • Experience with enterprise firewalls (policy management, NAT, VPNs)
  • Strong background in network segmentation and hardening
  • Experience managing enterprise switching environments
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs
  • Knowledge of VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure access controls
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud)
  • Ability to work independently in a lean team


Nice to Have

  • Experience leading network transformation or security improvement projects
  • Familiarity with modern security frameworks such as zero trust
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. network or security focused)
