Freelance Project Manager – Data Centre

The Role

For a major data centre project in Frankfurt, we are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead delivery across a critical phase of the project lifecycle, from construction through to commissioning and handover.

This role is suited to a commercially aware, technically competent project leader with a proven track record in mission‑critical environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing programme, budget, stakeholders, and risks while ensuring project objectives are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full project lifecycle ownership, ensuring delivery of the project on time, within budget, and to specification
• Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams including construction, engineering, and commissioning
• Acting as the key interface between client, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
• Developing and managing project schedules, tracking progress, and implementing corrective actions where required
• Overseeing commercial performance, cost control, forecasting, and change management
• Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues
• Ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, quality standards, and local German construction requirements
• Driving reporting processes, providing regular updates to senior stakeholders and clients
• Supporting procurement strategies and contractor management
• Overseeing commissioning, testing, and final handover to operations teams

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission‑critical projects
• Strong understanding of construction delivery, M&E systems, and critical infrastructure
• Experience working with main contractors, developers, or client-side organisations
• Solid knowledge of project controls, planning, cost management, and contract administration
• Experience managing large-scale, complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making under pressure
• Available for a 12–15 month freelance assignment
