Responsible for the operational support and maintenance of SFM passive network infrastructure, ensuring network performance, reliability, and timely resolution of issues.
Key Accountabilities and Activities
Network Systems Delivery
• Deliver expert installation, maintenance, and repair of UTP, FOC, multi-core cabling, and LAN cabling solutions.
• Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on existing cabling systems to maintain optimal network performance.
• Utilize tools, equipment, and materials effectively for cabling installations and troubleshooting.
• Perform thorough site inspections and prepare detailed reports and BOQs for new installations and maintenance tasks.
• Manage inventory of network components to ensure availability for installations and repairs.
• Design and implement network cabling overlays for events such as SFM sports events.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, ensuring clear communication about project progress and challenges.
• Prepare and update network drawings and patching matrices.
• Perform patching and mounting of active devices, manage patch cords, and provide remote support.
Communication / Documentation
• Communicate technical information clearly to colleagues, clients, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, site inspection reports, BOQs, and troubleshooting records.
• Manage inventory and generate network performance reports, maintaining accurate records of activities.
• Collaborate effectively within the team, communicating progress and challenges.
Problem Solving Skills
• Provide quick and effective solutions for passive network incidents using diagnostic tools with high-quality work.
• Analyze root causes of cabling issues and implement effective solutions.
• Communicate issues and solutions clearly and collaborate well with team members.
• Adapt to unexpected issues and new technologies, prioritizing tasks for timely resolution.
Qualifications and Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
• 6–8 years of experience in IT support and customer handling.
• 2–3 years in a similar role with comparable responsibilities, preferably in a related industry.
Education and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Computer Science or Electronics & Communication).
• Professional IT certification (e.g., Certified Information Systems Auditor, CISA, or equivalent).
Job-Specific Technical Skills
• Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing UTP, FOC, multi-core, and LAN cabling solutions.
• Mounting and patching active devices over the passive network.
• Skilled in using passive network tools and equipment such as cable testers, crimpers, and Fluke testers.
• Ability to design network cabling layouts, including event-specific installations.
• Conduct site inspections and produce reports with BOQs.
