Senior Product Designer, LearnWith.AI (Remote) - $200,000/year USD

You will join a validated learning model already delivering results at Alpha School. LearnWithAI powers the platform behind it and is scaling rapidly throughout the US and internationally. Students complete their core academics in two hours daily and achieve top national percentile scores. The model is effective. What it requires now is someone who consistently prioritizes the people within the system.

You will establish design excellence, create the standards, and develop the function. Your domain includes our learning platform and its related learning applications, serving diverse audiences both within Alpha and externally.

A five-year-old who cannot yet read is learning numerical concepts through a system that must make discovery feel effortless. A teenager performing two grade levels below target is regaining confidence after extended academic struggle, where a single unclear interaction could undermine progress. A parent gains visibility into their child's actual learning process. This transparency reduces worry and enables them to provide meaningful support. An academic coach overseeing a multi-age classroom must track advancement without information overload. You must understand each user deeply enough to design fundamentally distinct solutions for each.

Your responsibility is the experience layer: conduct thorough research on each audience, translate findings into design principles engineers can implement directly, and deliver code-ready outputs that function immediately—not static mockups awaiting review. You collaborate with product leaders accountable for results and engineers who deploy working software. You challenge requests that compromise user experience. You maintain complete ownership.

You will employ AI to accelerate iteration and expand capacity, but your expertise—not automated suggestions—determines what launches. Primary focus remains our education platform, with selected projects in additional areas.

What You Will Be Doing

• Conduct research across fundamentally different user groups and develop design principles reflecting that understanding
• Develop and sustain design systems within each product's native UI framework, enabling faster engineering deployment and cumulative design value rather than fragmentation
• Produce functional prototypes allowing product leaders to validate decisions within days rather than weeks
• Evaluate existing products through the user lens: identify experience failures, engagement obstacles, and high-impact improvement opportunities
• Establish design culture: feedback mechanisms, trade-off evaluation approaches, and non-negotiable standards
• Collaborate with product leaders and engineers, challenging requests that degrade user experience

• Setting product strategy; product leaders control that domain, you ensure experiences align with it
• Creating static mockups requiring code translation
• Focusing on a single product; you work across the complete portfolio
• Executing predefined design briefs; you extract context from ambiguous inputs and begin design with partial information
• Waiting for approval; you possess authority to detect and resolve UX issues independently
  
  

Basic Requirements

Senior Product Designer key responsibilities

• Minimum 5 years in product design or UX positions, demonstrating complete ownership from research to production launch
• Clear evidence of user empathy and research rigor with audiences substantially different from yourself
• Established design excellence in interaction and visual design, with portfolio demonstrating audience-tailored solutions over generic approaches, combined with well-defined design perspectives
• Proven AI-integrated workflow: rapid iteration, discerning judgment, and capacity to critique initial AI outputs rather than defaulting to suggestions
• Capability to convert designs into functional code using AI tooling and contemporary frameworks
• Confident establishing a design function and culture from the ground up, not joining existing infrastructure

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
