Backend Engineer (Kotlin & Spring Boot)

About the Role:

As a Backend Engineer, you will be the architect of our core services. You will design, build, and maintain the scalable, modular backend that powers our entire platform. You'll work with a modern Kotlin stack, tackle complex problems involving geospatial data, and ensure our API is robust and secure.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop microservices using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Gradle.
• Manage and evolve our PostgreSQL database schemas using Flyway migrations.
• Enhance our API gateway, including JWT authentication, rate limiting, and routing.
• Integrate with third-party services like Stripe for payments and S3 for storage.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

• 3+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong preference for the JVM ecosystem.
• Deep expertise in Kotlin or Java and the Spring Boot framework.
• Strong experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and building containerized applications.
• A solid understanding of RESTful API design and security principles (JWT, OAuth2).

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with PostGIS and geospatial data.
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and API gateways.
• Familiarity with Redis, Flyway, and Gradle multi-module projects.
• Experience building and deploying applications to cloud environments.
