Role: AWS Data Engineer

Location: Toronto – Onsite

Job Description

AWS Data Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based data pipelines that ingest, standardize, and deliver manufacturing data from shop-floor systems (presses, sensors, CBM, MES, and manual inputs) into a Unified Namespace (UNS) and downstream Digital Twin and analytics platforms

**Core Responsibilities**

Design and implement data ingestion pipelines from manufacturing systems (PLC/press controllers, CBM systems, MES).

Publish and consume data through a Unified Namespace (MQTT-based) architecture.

Build scalable pipelines for real-time, near-real-time, and historical data on AWS.

Model and transform raw machine data into contextualized, asset-based datasets.

Integrate data into Digital Twin, analytics, and KPI calculation layers.

Ensure data quality, observability, and reliability across pipelines.

**Skills**

Python (primary)

SQL (analytics and transformations)

JSON / Avro / Parquet formats

Stream and batch processing

Basic infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation – nice to have)

Strong understanding of MQTT publish/subscribe patterns

Topic namespace design aligned with asset hierarchies

Experience implementing or consuming a Unified Namespace (UNS)
