About the Role

We’re looking for a senior full stack engineer who thrives on autonomy and moves fast. Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll work closely with a tight-knit, flat team that ships frequently in a competitive market. There are no layers of management or drawn-out approval chains here—just real ownership over what you build and genuine influence over where our products go next.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complex web applications across the full stack, owning features end-to-end from architecture through to production
• Architect and maintain scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services using PHP, Laravel, and related frameworks
• Build engaging, responsive user interfaces with Vue.js, ensuring excellent user experience and accessibility
• Proactively identify and act on opportunities to improve our products, developer experience, and technical workflows
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Conduct and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain quality standards
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production and staging environments with urgency and clear communication
• Stay across emerging technologies, particularly in AI, tooling, and developer productivity, and bring practical proposals to the team
• Contribute to technical direction and help shape how we build, not just what we build

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong proficiency in PHP, Laravel, and a modern frontend framework (we use Vue)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and Laravel ORM best practices
• Experience with RESTful API design and backend service architecture
• Comfortable with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows
• Strong understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimization
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot across the stack
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate openly in a small, cross-functional team
• Hands-on experience with AI assistants (we use Claude Code) and integrating AI APIs into production applications
• Proven track record of taking initiative—proposing solutions, tackling ambiguous problems, and driving outcomes with minimal direction
• Genuine interest in keeping skills current and experimenting with new tools and approaches

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GCP (or AWS/Azure) and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Docker and containerised environments
• Knowledge of frontend testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress) and backend testing tools (PHPUnit)
• Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems
