Software Engineer (Healthcare AI)

Join our Zurich-based health-tech startup and play a key role in deploying and scaling our AI Nutrition Tracker in hospitals. Our system combines computer vision, hardware devices, and clinical workflows to automatically assess food intake and support the detection of malnutrition. It is already deployed in real hospital environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Hospital Integration & Deployment

Integrate our system into hospital IT environments, connect with clinical and kitchen software, and ensure reliable real-world deployments across hardware and software.

• Leading Mobile App Development for Outpatient Nutrition Tracking

Lead the development of a smartphone application to track nutrition in outpatient settings, extending our technology beyond hospitals into home environments.

• Customer Interaction & Requirements

Work directly with clinicians and hospital IT teams, translate requirements into product features, and iterate on user-facing tools such as dashboards.

• Product Implementation & Ownership

Design and implement features end-to-end (backend, APIs, UI) and take ownership from concept to deployment.

• Device & System Integration

Integrate hardware systems (RGB-D cameras, edge devices) and ensure stable communication across devices, cloud infrastructure, and hospital systems.

Requirements

• Education

Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (systems/mechatronics focus is a plus).

• Software Engineering

Strong programming skills (preferably Python) with solid engineering practices and experience building production-ready systems.

• Systems & Integration

Experience working with end-to-end systems involving software, hardware, APIs, and real-world deployments.

• Customer-Facing Mindset

Comfortable working directly with customers, gathering requirements, and translating them into practical solutions.

• Full-Stack Thinking

Ability to work across the stack (backend, APIs, basic UI) and adapt solutions to specific customer environments.

• Languages

German (C1 or higher, required for customer interaction), English (working proficiency).

• Problem-Solving & Ownership

Hands-on, proactive mindset with ownership from problem definition to deployment in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Have

• Deployment & Infrastructure

Experience with cloud environments, networking, and deployments in constrained or regulated environments.

• Hardware Interaction

Experience integrating sensors, cameras, or edge devices, with practical prototyping skills.

• Cloud & Containerization

Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Domain Interest

Interest in healthcare and nutrition tracking in real-world clinical environments.
