Java Support Developer – Dublin Hybrid
70% Java Support / 30% Java Development
Are you a Java Support Developer with 3–4 years’ commercial Java experience who enjoys working on real production systems?
This is a strong opportunity for someone who likes getting under the bonnet of Java applications — investigating issues, debugging problems, understanding how systems behave in production, and making steady improvements over time.
This is not a “hot tech” pure development role and it is not aimed at developers looking for greenfield engineering or cutting-edge product build work.
The role is approximately 70% Java application support and 30% Java development/enhancement work.
So it will suit a steady, practical Java professional who is happy working with existing systems, supporting live applications, fixing issues, improving reliability, and contributing to development work where needed.
You’ll be joining an established software engineering environment in Dublin, working closely with a team that supports and maintains important Java-based applications.
What you’ll be doing:
• Develop, maintain, and support Java-based applications and services
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in live production Java systems
• Debug application problems and identify root causes
• Support existing services, integrations, and application components
• Make improvements and enhancements to existing Java applications
• Work with the engineering team on releases, fixes, and updates
• Participate in code reviews and follow established development practices
• Help keep production systems stable, reliable, and well maintained
What we’re looking for:
• 3–4 years’ proven commercial Java experience
• Strong hands-on Java experience
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot
• Good SQL and relational database experience, such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle
• Experience using Git or similar version control tools
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving ability
• A practical mindset and willingness to work in a Java support-focused role
• Comfortable working on existing systems rather than only new development
• Agile experience would be useful but is not essential
Important fit for this role:
This role is best suited to someone who genuinely enjoys Java support, debugging, production issue investigation, maintenance, and steady application improvement.
It is not suitable for graduates, junior candidates without commercial Java experience, or developers only interested in pure new-build development work. It is not suitable for people who do not live in Ireland and who are not legal to work in Ireland -
There is NO VISA Sponsorship and NO Relocation so don't waste your own time asking for this.
Location:
The role is based in Dublin on a hybrid model.
You must currently be living in Dublin or within a realistic commuting distance.
The role requires 3 days per week in the office.
Eligibility:
You must have full legal permission to work in Ireland.
Sponsorship is not available for this role.
Apply:
If you have 3–4 years’ commercial Java experience and you’re looking for a solid Java Support Developer role where you can work on real production systems, investigate issues, fix problems, and make meaningful improvements, please apply today.
