Java Developer - Banking

Who We Are Looking For:
DWS is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer from a former banking background to join a high‑performing engineering team delivering large‑scale, event‑driven backend systems. This role focuses on building resilient Java microservices that support high‑volume, real‑time financial transactions within a highly regulated environment.

Salary: up to $180k (inc super)


The role requires:

• Strong, hands‑on experience designing and developing Java microservices using Spring Boot
• Proven background working in banking or core financial services environments
• Substantial experience building event‑driven architectures using Kafka
• Expertise developing RESTful APIs for complex internal and external integrations
• End‑to‑end ownership across design, build, deployment and production support
• Strong automated testing practices including unit and integration testing
• Experience tuning performance, resilience, and system observability
• Confidence contributing to technical design discussions and mentoring engineers
• Experience deploying to AWS container platforms with modern CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and regulated delivery standards
