As a Network & Communication Engineer, you are responsible for designing, managing and optimizing DEME’s global network infrastructure.
You ensure reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide – from HQ to offshore environments.
This role goes beyond daily operations: you actively contribute to projects, architecture and the future evolution of our network environment.
You will be part of an international team working on a complex and highly distributed network environment, including vessels, offshore sites and remote locations across the globe.
Your responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN networks.
- Ensure reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide.
- Manage and optimize network components such as switches, routers, firewalls and WiFi.
- Monitor network performance and proactively resolve incidents and issues.
- Take ownership of network-related projects and contribute to improvements and new initiatives.
- Help define and standardise the global network setup across DEME.
- Perform upgrades, patching and lifecycle management of network and security solutions.
- Act as a point of contact for more complex network and communication challenges.
- Work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders and external partners.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of configurations and network architecture
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent through experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in network and communication infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of routing & switching (e.g. Aruba), firewalls & security (e.g. Fortinet), WiFi, VPN technologies and network monitoring.
- Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow is a plus.
- You take ownership and like to take initiative when it comes to improvements or projects.
- You are not afraid to speak up and bring your own opinion – you can challenge ideas in a constructive way.
- You are hands-on, pragmatic and solution-oriented.
- You work well both independently and as part of a team.
- You are comfortable working in an international environment and communicate easily in English (Dutch is a plus).
- Willingness to occasionally travel is a plus, but not a must.
