Job Description

Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Control®, Max Payne®, Alan Wake®, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world, is looking for a Research Operations Specialist to support create high-quality gaming experiences for the next generation of games.

Together with our skilled User Research Team and the Head of User Research, you will collaborate with our creative teams from all current and upcoming projects. As a Research Operations Specialist, you will drive the planning, organization, player recruitment and coordination to enable the execution of our various user tests. Your work will directly contribute to improving the research efficiency, quality and the overall playability of Remedy's game titles.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

Remedy's User Research team operates a UR Lab in our Espoo studio, equipped with eight testing stations that support both in-person and remote playtesting. We run continuous user tests for several projects, from short usability sessions (typically 1-2 hours with 5-8 participants), extended playtests (30+ hours with 8 participants), to large-scale playtests involving 20+ players.

We work with a wide set of tools, spanning recruitment and surveys (player database, survey tools), session coordination and capture (Discord, OBS), and planning and documentation (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint).

What You Get To Do

  • Own participant sourcing, recruitment and playtest database management. Manage the playtest database, recruitment systems, screening processes and incentives distribution.
  • Coordinate logistics for remote and in-person playtests, including lab setup, scheduling and participant communication.
  • Collaborate with the User Research team to plan and schedule playtests. Ensure the research department scales in line with production needs.
  • Maintain the UR lab and research tools, ensuring software and hardware are ready to use.
  • Ensure legal, ethical and data compliance and governance. Manage protocols for consent, NDAs and data privacy (GDPR).
  • Maintain, develop, and continuously improve research pipelines, tools, templates, and documentation.
  • Own the Jira processes for UR requests and UR findings.
  • Communicate with project teams share ongoing player focused guidance to shareholders and ensure that the UR team has the needed information to organize user tests.
  • Manage vendors and external partners, source and onboard research partners.

What You Bring To The Role

  • You are experienced in research operations, project management or related field.
  • You have hands-on experience with managing participant databases and participant recruitment processes.
  • You are familiar with consent processes, NDAs, data protection regulations and how they apply to user research.
  • You are skilled using project management tools such as Jira.
  • You collaborate effectively across disciplines, you have good communication skills and are able to manage stakeholder needs.
  • You bring practical technical know-how, allowing you to troubleshoot basic issues and communicate more complex problems when needed.
  • You have a good understanding of the game industry.
  • You thrive working in a team environment, sharing ideas and learning from others. You are used to collaborating with colleagues across different departments and you are able to communicate and present your ideas in a clear and coherent way. As a team member, you are dedicated to contributing towards a friendly and inclusive work environment.
  • You can also work independently, being organized and able to document your work.
