Senior Analytical Engineer

6 Month Contract, Dublin, Hybrid

This role sits within a fast-paced and highly collaborative analytics function focused on solving challenging data problems using modern cloud and engineering tooling.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Analytical Engineer to analyse large and complex datasets in order to validate hypotheses and generate actionable insights. This role requires a strong technical engineer with an analytical mindset who can combine deep data exploration skills with modern tooling and engineering best practices.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, rapidly iterating on ideas, and communicating findings clearly through data, visuals, and narrative.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Exploration

• Analyse large, disparate datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
• Clean, transform, and structure raw data for analytical use cases
• Perform exploratory analysis to validate assumptions and support hypothesis-driven investigations

Experimentation & Iterative Development

• Operate with an experimentation mindset using iterative “test, learn, refine” approaches
• Define analytical frameworks and document methodologies and findings
• Continuously improve analytical processes and workflows based on outcomes and feedback

Technical Engineering & Tooling

• Develop and optimise advanced SQL queries for enterprise-scale datasets and data marts
• Work extensively within the Databricks ecosystem for analysis and data exploration
• Use Python notebooks for structured analytical workflows and exploratory modelling
• Manage and version-control notebooks and analytical assets within Git-based environments

Communication & Collaboration

• Present findings through a combination of code, visualisations, and clear business explanations
• Translate technical analysis into meaningful insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams in a highly collaborative environment

Agile & Incubator-Style Delivery

• Operate effectively in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements
• Navigate ambiguity and contribute to shaping analytical approaches and delivery methods
• Support rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept initiatives

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in an Analytical Engineering, Data Analytics, or related role
• Strong experience working with enterprise-scale data marts and large datasets
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex and optimised queries
• Strong hands-on experience with Python notebooks for analytical exploration and data manipulation
• Experience working within the Databricks ecosystem
• Familiarity with Git and version control practices for notebook and code management
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain insights clearly and effectively
• Comfortable working in environments with ambiguity and evolving priorities
