Role Overview

The Lead Data Analyst - Data Governance will play a key role in translating governance strategy into practical operational execution across enterprise data domains.

This is a highly hands-on position suited to someone who can combine analytical thinking, governance expertise, stakeholder management, and process design. The successful candidate will help define governance standards, establish workflows and SOPs, identify process and data gaps, and drive adoption across cross-functional teams.

This is not a traditional reporting-focused analyst role. The position requires someone who can shape governance processes, define rules and controls, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Governance Execution & Operating Model

• Support the implementation of governance frameworks and operating models across assigned data domains
• Define governance checkpoints, intake processes, escalation paths, and decision-making structures
• Align stakeholders on governance priorities, standards, and delivery expectations

Requirements, Rules & Standards

• Translate business requirements into governance rules, data definitions, and control requirements
• Develop and maintain governance artefacts including business glossaries, standards, policies, and rule documentation
• Drive clarity across teams by resolving ambiguity and recommending governance guardrails

SOP Design & Workflow Documentation

• Design and maintain SOPs and process documentation for governance workflows
• Create process maps, RACIs, runbooks, control checklists, and operational documentation
• Establish repeatable and audit-ready governance processes

Gap Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct structured analysis to identify data quality, process, and operational gaps
• Quantify business impact and develop actionable remediation recommendations
• Partner with product, engineering, and operational teams to drive resolution and continuous improvement

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Collaborate across business, analytics, engineering, compliance, and operational teams
• Facilitate governance forums, workshops, and decision-making sessions
• Produce executive-ready materials including KPI summaries, issue briefs, governance updates, and decision papers

Governance Metrics & Reporting

• Define and track governance KPIs and operational metrics
• Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor governance effectiveness and adoption
• Provide leadership visibility into risk, progress, and operational performance

Key Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, business analysis, data quality, or related disciplines
• Proven experience designing SOPs, governance workflows, and operational process documentation
• Strong understanding of data governance principles including:
• Data lineage
• Metadata management
• Data quality frameworks
• Business definitions and controls
• Experience working closely with technical teams including data engineering and platform functions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and propose practical solutions
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across both business and technical audiences
• Ability to work independently, drive initiatives, and operate effectively in ambiguous environments

Nice to Have

• Experience within regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, or compliance-heavy environments
• Familiarity with governance tooling including catalog, glossary, lineage, or workflow management platforms
• Experience developing governance KPI frameworks and operational reporting
• Understanding of Source of Truth (SOT) concepts and data product operating models
