AI Engineer (Generative AI & MLOps) [Hybrid - Maia, Portugal]

We are looking for a Mid-Level AI Engineer to join an international technology environment focused on building scalable AI-powered solutions. This professional will work on the integration, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of AI services and data pipelines, collaborating closely with software engineering and product teams.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AI integrations, APIs, scalable architectures, and production-ready AI environments.

Tasks:

  • Develop APIs and microservices to expose AI capabilities to frontend and backend applications
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to support AI model training, validation, and inference
  • Optimize AI inference performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Monitor and maintain AI models in production environments following MLOps best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems
  • Support the evolution of AI architectures and platform reliability
  • Ensure code quality, observability, and maintainability across AI services

Requirements:

  • Professional experience working with AI-powered applications or machine learning integrations
  • Experience developing APIs and microservices
  • Knowledge of data pipelines and data processing workflows
  • Understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and cloud-based architectures
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining AI models in production environments
  • Familiarity with MLOps concepts and best practices
  • Experience with containerization and CI/CD pipelines
  • Good communication skills and collaborative mindset
  • English proficiency for professional communication

Nice to have

  • Experience with Generative AI and LLM integrations
  • Experience with Azure AI, OpenAI, AWS AI, or Google AI services
  • Knowledge of vector databases and RAG architectures
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native environments

Work Model

  • Hybrid model: 2 days per week onsite in Maia, Portugal.
