About the Role

We're hiring a Compliance Officer in Malta to ensure SCRYPT's MiCA-regulated operations remain fully compliant with EU financial market regulations and international frameworks (MiCA, FATF Travel Rule, OFAC/SECO sanctions). You'll support our growing crypto asset management business and act as a key contact point for regulatory bodies, auditors, and internal stakeholders - providing assurance that compliance frameworks are robust and effective.

Reports to the Head of Compliance and the Director of the Malta entity.

The Bar

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee the company's compliance programme under EU law - monitor evolving international regulations (MiCA, FATF guidance, OFAC/SECO sanctions) and assess impact on business activities
• Act as liaison with the MFSA, VQF, FINMA, and other regulatory authorities
• Implement AML/CFT processes - onboarding, due diligence, transaction monitoring
• Conduct periodic risk assessments and oversee suspicious activity reporting
• Train staff on AML/KYC and sanctions compliance
• Supervise Travel Rule compliance (VASP guidelines)
• Oversee custody and brokerage compliance controls for digital assets
• Develop internal policies for security tokens, stablecoins, and cross-border client interactions (including reverse solicitation issues)
• Advise management and the Board on compliance risks and mitigation strategies
• Prepare compliance reports, internal audit materials, and regulatory submissions
• Lead compliance-related projects such as system upgrades and policy enhancements

Job requirements

Education

• Law, finance, compliance, or related field. Advanced degree or compliance certifications (CAS Compliance Management, ACAMS, CFA in compliance) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 2–4 years in compliance, legal, or risk management, preferably in financial services, fintech, or crypto brokerage. Demonstrated knowledge of MiCA, EU regulatory frameworks, and Maltese regulatory environment. Familiarity with Swiss financial regulation (AMLA, FINMA, VQF) a plus.

Skills

• Strong understanding of blockchain and crypto asset markets. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to engage with regulators, auditors, and senior management with authority.

Languages

• Fluent English required. Maltese, German, or French a plus.
