Junior Data Engineer

Overview

We are looking for Junior Data Engineers to join our growing team. This role will support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and datasets that power analytics and reporting across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals or recent graduates eager to develop their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines.
• Assist in building and maintaining structured datasets for analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders (data analysts, business teams) to understand data needs.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems.
• Participate in troubleshooting and issue resolution related to data workflows.
• Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement of data processes.

Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• Must have graduated from top universities in Romania or Europe.

Experience

• 0–3 years of professional experience.
• Fresh graduates with strong academic background and relevant knowledge are also encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills (Required)

Basic understanding of:

• Data engineering concepts.
• Databases (SQL).
• ETL/data pipeline concepts.

Familiarity with:

• Programming languages such as Python, Java or Scala.
• Data processing frameworks (nice to have).
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Soft Skills

• Strong willingness to learn and grow in the data engineering field.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and data accuracy.

Additional Requirements

• Based in Romania (preferably Bucharest or willing to relocate).
• Immediate availability or short notice period.

Willing to participate in:

• Two interview stages (HCLTech TP1 + Customer interview).
• Open to working on-site / hybrid (remote work is not available for this role).
