About Position and details:

  • Role: Senior Experience Designer (UX/UI)
  • Location: Melbourne, Australia

Position Objective:

  • The Senior Experience Designer is an experienced individual contributor responsible for delivering high quality and strategic, end to end UX and UI design across digital products, channels and services.
  • Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role translates customer needs, business requirements, strategic experience intent, and experience principles into a cohesive, scalable UX and UI experiences across multiple products, channels, and markets.

Key Responsibilities: Define Experience Design Strategy

  • Lead experience definition across complex journeys, shaping end to end experience direction aligned to enterprise strategy and customer centred principles.
  • Translate strategic intent into actionable experience frameworks, principles, and priorities, ensuring experiences remain competitive, cohesive, and future focused.

Minimum/preferred Job Requirements:

Education

  • Tertiary degree qualified with formal education across design, psychology, business, or technology/IT desired.

Experience

  • Minimum 8–12 years’ experience across UX, UI, and UX research within complex digital product or service environments.
  • Expertise in experience strategy and interface design, with the ability to define, govern, and evolve end‑to‑end customer experiences across multiple journeys.
  • Extensive design experience across web, responsive, and mobile platforms, with strong understanding of cross‑channel and omnichannel interactions.
  • Exceptional design craft and attention to detail, setting a high standard for usability, consistency, and visual quality.
  • Proven evidence of integrating user research and insights into experience direction, design decisions, and prioritisation at journey and system level.
  • Proven ability to translate complex problems into clear experience solutions, including journey frameworks, interaction models, prototypes, and detailed UI handover using design systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery practices, with experience partnering closely with CX, Digital Product and Technology to shape delivery outcomes.
  • Deep experience in journey mapping and service design, including identifying cross‑journey dependencies, risks, and optimisation opportunities.
  • Expertise across core digital channels and omnichannel ecosystems, ensuring cohesive and scalable experience outcomes.
  • Experience in regulated or complex domains (e.g. health insurance, life insurance, financial services, or government) is highly desirable, though not essential.

  • Confidently facilitates complex discussions and workshops, manages senior group dynamics, and clearly articulates experience direction, rationale, and trade‑offs to influence outcomes at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrates resilience and accountability in complex environments, actively seeks and integrates feedback, learns from challenges, and continuously evolves personal capability and impact.
  • Proactively researches, challenges existing thinking, and articulates forward‑looking experience opportunities, contributing to the evolution of experience strategy and practice.
  • Builds trusted, long‑term relationships and influences outcomes through effective consultation, negotiation, and alignment with senior business, product, and technology stakeholders.
  • Operates with high autonomy, professionalism, and emotional intelligence; acts with integrity, organisational awareness, and consideration of impact on others while consistently modelling company values.

Core requirement for this role is to champion the principles of the Risk Management framework and to embed a risk approach to decisions within own function. All compliance, audit and risk plans and actions need to be executed in a timely manner. Role modelling Operating Philosophy of “Doing the Right thing, in the Right Way, with the Right people” is a minimum requirement for this role and the incumbent will be measured against this regularly.
