We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer who will write modern Kotlin, work in Jetpack

Compose, and help define how Android development looks at one of the world's most iconic

real-time apps.

Start: May/June

Duration: 6 months initial

Location: Hybrid setup - consultant must be based in Stockholm

What You'll Do

Design and ship user-facing features in Kotlin using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Flow.
Translate complex requirements, real-time data, map interactions, push alerts, into reliable, performant code.
Contribute to architecture discussions (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization) and help evolve the codebase toward a fully modular design.
Write thorough unit, UI, and integration tests (JUnit, Espresso, MockK); raise the bar for quality through reviews.
Collaborate daily with iOS engineers, designers, backend engineers, QA, and product to deliver cohesive cross-platform experiences.
Strengthen our CI/CD pipeline (Gradle, Actions, Firebase App Distribution) for fast, safe releases.
Mentor mid-level engineers and share knowledge through documentation, tech talks, and RFCs.

Who You Are

5–8 years of Android experience shipping high-quality consumer apps to a large user base.
Expert in Kotlin; strong with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Flow.
Solid grasp of modern Android architecture (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization) and Jetpack libraries.
Performance-minded: comfortable profiling with Android Studio's tools and reasoning about memory, rendering, and battery.
Strong testing instincts and hands-on CI/CD experience.
Clear communicator who gives and receives feedback well and lifts the people around you.

Bonus

Real-time data on mobile (live feeds, websockets, high-frequency UI updates).
Google Maps SDK or custom map rendering and tile management.
Background work (WorkManager, foreground services), location APIs, push notifications. Play Billing, Firebase, or experimentation frameworks.
