HR Officer | Recruitment & HR Administration (APS5) | 6‑Month Contract | Sydney CBD | Hybrid working | $45–50 per hour + super | Australian Citizenship required
We’re currently seeking an experienced HR Officer to join a People & Culture team on a 6‑month temporary contract, supporting recruitment and HR administration in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys balancing recruitment coordination with broader HR operations.
The role
Reporting to Talent Acquisition leadership, you will support the delivery of end‑to‑end recruitment and HR administration services, ensuring processes are efficient, compliant and candidate‑focused.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including job advertising, shortlisting support, referee checks and drafting recruitment documentation
- Coordinating recruitment activities such as interview scheduling, panel support and candidate communication
- Managing recruitment inboxes and responding to candidate and stakeholder enquiries
- Coordinating pre‑employment screening, including police checks, security clearances and identity verification
- Preparing letters of offer, employment documentation and onboarding materials
- Maintaining accurate recruitment and HR records to meet audit, privacy and merit requirements
- Assisting with HR operations such as labour hire engagements, non‑ongoing contracts and s26 transfer processing
- Supporting broader People & Culture initiatives as required
About you
- Previous experience in HR or recruitment coordination, ideally within government or a complex corporate environment
- Understanding of merit‑based recruitment principles and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑volume environment
- High attention to detail and confidence handling confidential information
- Comfortable using HR systems and Microsoft Office
- Clear, professional communicator who works well with diverse stakeholders
- This is a role in Federal Government, therefore Australian Citizenship is required
