Senior Backend AI Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend AI Engineer to join an AI-driven enterprise project focused on building scalable integrations and backend services for AI platforms.

The role is remote, with occasional business trips to Essen, Germany for on-site team workshops approximately once every 3 months.

About The Role

You will help build integrations and backend services that allow AI systems to connect with enterprise applications and execute actions reliably and securely.

The role involves close collaboration with AI Engineers and Data Engineers in a shared, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python;
• Develop integrations between AI platforms and enterprise systems;
• Work with Databricks and Azure environments;
• Support scalable and reliable execution of AI-driven workflows;
• Design clean and reusable APIs and services;
• Improve reliability, monitoring, and performance of integrations;
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong Python backend development experience;
• Good experience with Databricks and Azure;
• Experience building REST APIs and backend services;
• Experience integrating enterprise systems and APIs;
• Understanding of event-driven and distributed systems;
• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and scalable architectures;
• Experience with DevOps and Terraform/IaC principles;
• Experience working in AI-driven environments.
