Java Software Engineer

A highly specialised engineering organisation operating within the semiconductor technology sector is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support the ongoing development of advanced automated test and measurement platforms used by leading semiconductor manufacturers globally.

This position sits within a multidisciplinary engineering environment alongside application engineers, R&D specialists and hardware-focused engineering teams. The work is highly technical and engineering-driven, focused on the development of internal software platforms, automation tools and test system functionality used within complex semiconductor testing environments.

The role would suit somebody who enjoys working close to hardware, instrumentation and real-world engineering systems rather than purely web-based software products.

Key Responsibilities

• Development and enhancement of Java-based engineering software platforms
• Design and maintenance of software used for semiconductor test and measurement systems
• Collaboration with application engineering and R&D teams on new functionality and system improvements
• Development of automation, control and data-handling functionality within complex test environments
• Support of internal engineering tools and software frameworks
• Contribution to ongoing software architecture and platform development

Candidate Profile

• Commercial experience with Java development
• Background within engineering-led environments rather than purely consumer/web software
• Experience working with instrumentation, automation, hardware control or test systems would be highly beneficial
• Exposure to semiconductor, electronics, industrial automation, scientific instrumentation or similar technical sectors would be advantageous
• Comfortable working within cross-functional R&D environments
• Experience with multithreading, concurrency or complex systems development would be beneficial
• Any exposure to Java Swing, JavaFX or engineering GUI development would be considered positively
• Linux experience would be advantageous
