User Experience (UX) Front-End Developer – Contract Role

Location: ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC
Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
Australian Citizenship mandatory
Baseline Security Clearance required

We are seeking a skilled User Experience (UX) Front-End Developer to play a key role in enhancing the usability, accessibility, and overall experience of modern enterprise applications. You will work within a multidisciplinary Agile team to deliver user-centred digital solutions and help shape a scalable design system used across multiple applications.

About the Role You will contribute to building and maintaining a Design System, creating reusable front-end components and code libraries that enable consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across projects. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform design concepts into high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Improve application usability through close collaboration with UX designers, developers, and stakeholders
• Translate UX/UI designs and prototypes into functional, responsive web applications
• Develop reusable, maintainable, and performant front-end code
• Build and support shared component libraries for scalable design system adoption
• Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility
• Test, debug, and resolve usability or accessibility issues
• Provide technical guidance on front-end best practices and platform constraints
• Mentor junior developers and support team capability uplift
• Support Agile delivery with strong collaboration and communication

Key Skills & Experience Essential Criteria

• Minimum 2 years’ commercial front-end development experience within Australia (or similar environment)
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and SCSS
• Proven experience building design systems and reusable component libraries
• Demonstrated experience delivering accessible, responsive, WCAG-compliant applications
• Ability to translate UX designs into user-centred solutions using Human-Centred Design principles
• Experience working in Agile environments, solving complex problems, and engaging stakeholders effectively

Desirable

• Experience with Microsoft Power Apps (front-end)
• Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools
• Experience with backend templating languages (e.g., Liquid, PHP, TWIG)
• Relevant IT or Business qualification
• Deliver effective knowledge transfer and documentation to ensure continuity and sustainable outcomes
