Hays have partnered with a global organisation based in Brisbane, who are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to lead the adoption of AI, automation, and advanced analytics within a high-impact engineering environment.
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional analytics-driving the shift from reactive processes to fully automated, data-driven decision-making, unlocking significant efficiency gains and improving asset performance at scale.

Your new role

You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering cutting-edge solutions leveraging machine learning, LLMs, and predictive analytics. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll embed data science into core operations, transforming how maintenance strategies are developed and optimised.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong experience with Python and SQL
• Proven track record in machine learning and statistical modelling
• Experience applying LLMs / NLP for real-world use cases
• Expertise working with complex data environments
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to translate data into business outcomes
• Experience with Power BI or similar visualisation tools
• Previous experience in an engineering organisation
