Data Analyst / BA (Mid-level) - 📊 Data / Fintech - Sydney CBD - SaaS

tekFinder have a new opportunity for a mid-level Analytics Engineer to join a fintech SaaS product business in Sydney CBD.

You'll be working closely with BAs and Data Engineers, focused on data interrogation, analysis, and validation across complex enterprise datasets.

This is almost a tech BA role - ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with datasets and problem solving. You'll be working with large volumes of customer data, typically provided in Excel and stored within structured data environments.

To be specific;

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
• Technical BA mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• Experience translating business requirements into data logic
• Strong communicator who can explain technical findings clearly
• High attention to detail and structured thinking

The right person here is passionate and enthusiastic about working as a BA in data / data analysis. You don't need deep domain experience - you need the analytical chops and the curiosity to dig into messy data and figure out what's going on.

Some candidates who went through the process recently fell short; they had the SQL but couldn't translate business rules into structured data logic, or struggled to communicate findings back to non-technical stakeholders.

Interview process is straightforward and moves quickly.

A normal week looks like;

• 50% analysing complex datasets in SQL, identifying patterns, anomalies and exceptions
• 25% translating business rules into structured data logic
• 15% investigating scenarios where automated logic can't confidently determine an outcome
• 10% working with internal stakeholders to validate findings and support product outcomes
