Automation Project Manager

Adecco in partnership with our client, is currently hiring a full-time Automation Manager and lead the charge in driving automation excellence across their organization in Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an integral member of the team, collaborating closely with the EPCM contractor to establish best practices and standardization within the automation discipline throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with contractors during the FEED phase.
  • Ensure all automation processes adhere to safety, corporate, and quality standards.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead an automation team to design, implement, and operate automation systems within the factory.
  • Contribute to the creation and ongoing refinement of the owner’s automation strategies, corporate standards, and action plans.
  • Review and evaluate proposed specifications, automation designs, equipment selections, and installation plans to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Provide support during the bidding and contractor selection process for the execution phase.
  • Address and resolve any discrepancies or deviations from project specifications promptly.
  • Recommend and implement improvements or additions to project documentation.
  • Establish and oversee the internal automation discipline team, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with project goals.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada.
  • Possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in automation, electrical engineering, cybernetics, or a related field; an advanced degree is considered an asset.
  • Bring over 10 years of industry experience, particularly in large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrate strong technical expertise in automation, including proficiency in DCS systems, robotics, and industrial AI.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of automation specialists at Vianode's plants and among external partners.
  • Extensive experience in planning and executing automation projects.
  • Background in managing teams effectively.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and developing automation systems for both batch and continuous processes.
  • International and cross-cultural experience is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with Canadian codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
