Senior DevOps Engineer

Hays is partnering with a leading Tier 1 mining organisation to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer for a major technology transformation program.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll help build and operate the platforms powering next-generation mining systems — including solutions supporting electric fleets, real-time operations, and advanced analytics. Your work will directly contribute to shaping the future of sustainable and intelligent mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and production-ready, with responsibilities including:

• Designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
• Building and managing containerised platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Supporting hybrid environments across cloud (AWS) and on-prem systems
• Implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks
• Driving improvements in performance, scalability, and system resilience
• Collaborating with engineers and data teams to deploy new capabilities
• Supporting incident response and production troubleshooting

About You

You’re a Senior DevOps or platform engineer with experience working on large-scale, business-critical systems.

Core experience:

• 6+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
• Strong hands-on expertise with:
• Kubernetes & Docker
• CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, Octopus, Artifactory)
• Terraform (or similar IaC tools)
• Solid Linux and systems administration skills
• Experience in production-grade environments
• Exposure to AWS (EC2, Lambda, or similar)
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash)
• Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Loki, etc.)

Nice to Have

• Experience in high-availability or real-time systems
• Exposure to mining, industrial, or operational environments
• Experience supporting AI/ML or data platforms in production
