Our client, a leading proprietary trading firm specialising in both systematic and discretionary strategies, is seeking a Senior Networking Engineer to join their Zurich office. This is a unique opportunity to evolve and enhance a highly sophisticated performance critical netwrok infrastructure, ensuring exceptional uptime and performance. This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for ensuring ultra-low latency, high availability, & deterministic performance across trading systems, market data distribution, & inter-site connectivity. You will work in a small, highly technical team with significant ownership & autonomy.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of low-latency network infrastructure supporting trading and research systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the performance, reliability, and stability of the global network environment, as well as supporting co-location deployments, exchange connectivity, and inter-data centre networking.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and operate low-latency network infrastructure supporting trading and research systems
  • Own the performance, reliability, and stability of the global network environment
  • Support co-location deployments, exchange connectivity, and inter-DC networking
  • Optimize network paths for latency-sensitive workloads and high-throughput systems
  • Manage and maintain high-availability network and security infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot complex issues: latency spikes, packet loss, multicast behavior, and microbursts
  • Maintain secure and resilient WAN connectivity between global offices and data centers
  • Support market data distribution and packet capture/analysis workflows
  • Implement and improve monitoring, observability, and alerting across the network stack
  • Contribute to automation, standardization, and infrastructure scaling initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep network engineering in low-latency, high-performance financial environments
  • Strong L2/L3, TCP/IP, Linux, and production troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with automation (Python/Bash), HA systems, and modern networking (Cisco/Arista, SDN)
  • Focus on performance optimisation, observability, and scalability
  • Support co-location deployments, exchange connectivity, and inter-DC networking
  • Ownership mindset, strong problem-solving, and effective communication
