Job Description

  • Permanent role working at our Mascot head office (hybrid working options available)

As a Software Engineer in our Data and Streaming Analytics team, you’ll be responsible for the development, maintenance and operational support of the systems that power our business unit. You will be involved in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle, solving customer or business problems through innovation and application of best practice software development techniques, including agile and lean thinking.

You’ll Have

  • At least 4 years’ experience as a software engineer or similar role (preferred)
  • Experience with Confluent Kafka components like Cloud Kafka, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and KSQLDB is desired
  • Proficiency in Java for building Kafka producers and consumers
  • Exposure to Bash scripting for automation and system tasks
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience deploying and managing Kafka, Kafka Connect and KSQLDB
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS Infrastructure
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge in Linux system administration
  • Skills in optimizing Kafka performance, resource management and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog is beneficial
  • Awareness of Kafka security best practices (e.g. encryption, authentication) or a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or Azure.
