JOB DESCRIPTION

• As DEVOPS engineer, you are responsible for the management and operation of the AWS Workloads of client
• Higher education (Master or Bachelor) with technical/engineering background or equivalent through experience with ICT technology for which expertise is required Demonstrable experience for the technology in question or a similar technology
• Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR - level C2

TECHNICAL CONTEXT:

• The central AWS Hub acts as a platform for all AWS workloads of client It contains central components for the network architecture, DNS, logging, monitoring, deploy API, etc. Part of this platform has already been set up via Infrastructure as Code (IaC), but further elaboration is required. In addition to this platform, we also manage the application applications in the landing zones.

BUSINESS CONTEXT:

• Within client, the central Platform Engineering team is responsible for setting up and operationalizing a central platform, set up in a hub-spoke architecture. This team consists of an Azure System Team and an AWS System Team.
• The team unburdens the project teams by providing central components in the hub and guides them in setting up new spokes and linking them to the hub.
• On this platform, we host building blocks such as Vlaanderen.be, My Citizen Profile, the Flemish Basic Registers and many others. And more projects are ready to be onboarded for the realisation of the most ambitious projects within the Flemish government.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• As a DevOps engineer, you are responsible for the management and operation of the central AWS platform:
• Development, management and operation of the platform
• Management of flows on the platform
• Optimization and further development of the IaC
• Rolling out and operationalizing applications in the landing zone

EXAMPLE TASKS

• Developing a platform with central components such as a firewall, DNS solution, etc.
• Further expanding and scaling the infrastructure of the central AWS platform
• Automating the releases on the different environments
• Monitoring the health of the infrastructure and applications
• Adding/configuring new services/flows
• Provide system failure/recovery plans
• Take the necessary actions to guarantee the reliability of the platform and the systems.

SKILLS

• Demonstrable experience in automating CI/CD processes, for example: GitHub, Azure DevOps Pipelines, ... (Intermediate 3 years)
• Proven experience with Python (Intermediate 3 years)
• Proven experience for the technology in question or a similar technology (Intermediate 3 years)
• Demonstrable, practical experience with IaC (Intermediate 3 years)
• Upload document NDA signed.
• Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR - level C2.
• Demonstrate with one or more cases that you have experience in setting up and maintaining a central hosting platform within a hub-spoke architecture. Describe which central components are essential in this. Please also indicate how many years of experience
• Demonstrable experience within the Flemish Government (Intermediate 3 years)
• Proven experience with Agile & DEVOPS culture (Intermediate 3 years)
• Proven experience with Azure Devops (Intermediate 3 years)
• Demonstrable experience in managing a container orchestration system, for example: ECS Fargate, Kubernetes, Docker, ... (junior 1 years)
• Demonstrable knowledge of AWS
• Demonstrable knowledge of PostgreSQL, MSSQL or MongoDB Administration
• Higher education (Master or Bachelor) with technical/engineering background or equivalent through experience with ICT technology for which expertise is required
