We are currently supporting a major infrastructure and technology programme in Hessen and are looking for an experienced Network Automation Engineer to help modernise and automate large-scale enterprise and data centre network environments.

This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation initiatives, reducing manual network operations while driving scalability, reliability and operational efficiency across mission-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement network automation solutions across enterprise and data centre environments
• Automate provisioning, configuration management and operational processes
• Build and maintain automation frameworks using Python and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies
• Develop Ansible playbooks, scripts and workflows to support network deployment and management
• Integrate network infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes
• Collaborate with Network Engineers, Architects and Infrastructure teams on automation strategy
• Improve monitoring, configuration compliance and operational efficiency
• Support migration and transformation projects involving modern network technologies
• Produce technical documentation and automation standards

Requirements

• Proven experience in Network Automation Engineering or Network Engineering with strong automation expertise
• Strong Python development skills
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Git and automation tooling
• Solid understanding of routing, switching and network protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLAN)
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista or similar enterprise networking technologies
• Knowledge of Linux environments and scripting
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Fluent German and good English communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Terraform, NetBox or Nornir experience
• Exposure to SDN technologies and modern data centre architectures
• CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or Azure DevOps
• Experience within large-scale enterprise, telecoms or data centre environments
• CCNP, DevNet, JNCIP or equivalent certifications
