Job Summary
Seeking experienced (3+ years) Audio Engineers for a growing team supporting live, remote, and studio audio workflows. Candidates need a strong foundation in audio engineering principles and hands-on experience with digital audio systems, networked audio, and production tools. The role focuses on capturing, mixing, routing, monitoring, and delivering high-quality audio across modern production environments, with a strong emphasis on live sports production.
Contractor Position Compensation: $900 - $1,150 USD per month
Contract Length: 6 Months
Must be able to work evenings & weekends as scheduled
Core Competencies
- Fundamentals: Strong grasp of gain staging, signal flow, impedance, routing, and experience with microphones, mixers, and audio processing (compression, EQ). Ability to critically troubleshoot audio quality.
- Digital Systems: Experience with DAWs & Broadcasting Softwares (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, vMix, OBS, etc.), audio drivers (ASIO, Core Audio), low-latency workflows, and multi-I/O interface configuration.
- Live/Remote: Experience in live, broadcast, or remote production. Knowledge of AoIP (Dante, NDI, AVB is a plus). Skilled in managing monitor mixes, output buses, and talkback. Comfortable under production pressure.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues (hardware/software). Familiarity with Windows/macOS/Linux audio environments and network fundamentals for streaming. Experience documenting workflows.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication with technical and non-technical staff. Ability to follow and improve workflows. Calm, methodical troubleshooting under pressure. Team-oriented and accountable for audio quality.
Job Responsibilities
- Setup & Operation: Configure/operate audio interfaces, mixers, and signal chains. Set up I/O routing, gain staging, and monitoring. Ensure consistent audio quality and loudness for live/recorded workflows.
- Production Support: Assist with live stream audio, manage mixes for talent and feeds, real-time audio monitoring, and issue resolution. Coordinate with production teams as required in order to facilitate on-demand audio configurations as required.
- Systems Management: Configure/maintain digital audio systems, networked audio workflows, and potentially Linux/embedded systems. Optimize latency, stability, and performance.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve noise, distortion, latency, or dropout issues. Maintain equipment, assist with testing, and update technical documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Propose improvements for quality/efficiency. Stay updated with current audio technology.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional Audio Engineer experience.
- Hands-on experience with digital audio production.
- Proven ability to work in live, studio, or remote settings.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working independently and on a team.
Nice-to-Have (Strong Plus)
- Experience with AoIP systems (NDI, Dante).
- Linux audio experience (JACK, ALSA).
- Broadcast, podcast, or streaming background.
- Experience with live sports production.
- Scripting/automation experience for audio.
- Experience supporting remote/distributed audio teams.
