Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-orientated Data centre engineer to support our data centre operations in Hamburg, Germany. The ideal candidate will have experience with physical infrastructure tasks, including racking and stacking servers and performing structured cabling (fibre and copper). This role is critical to ensuring the uptime, scalability, and physical integrity of our data centre environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rack and stack of servers, network devices, and storage systems according to layout and documentation.
• Execute structured cabling tasks, including installation, labelling, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre optic and copper cables.
• Maintain accurate documentation of hardware installations, cable maps, and port assignments.
• Assist with hardware moves, adds, and changes (MACs) in the data centre.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) and escalate anomalies
• Support remote hands requests from internal teams or external vendors.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to data centre access and safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of data centre spaces.

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in a data centre or IT infrastructure environment
• Proven experience with rack and stack of IT hardware
• Hands-on experience with fibre optic and copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, LC/SC fibre)
• Familiarity with cable management best practices and labelling standards
• Good understanding of networking and server hardware
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as BICSI Installer 1 or 2 (Copper & Fibre), Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI), or Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP).
• Familiarity with European cabling standards, including DIN EN 50600 Part 2-4 and ISO/IEC 24764 for structured cabling in data centres.
• Exposure to Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools for asset tracking and environmental monitoring.
• Knowledge of ESD safety protocols and proper handling of sensitive hardware.
• Vendor-specific cabling training (e.g., CommScope, Corning, Panduit) is a plus.
• Ability to interpret cabling schematics and follow structured cabling layouts.
