Job Description
As a Product Design Developer, you lead the product development from idea to a final product, ready to meet our customers. Together with a multifunctional team of specialists, you will secure that our products fulfil all the five dimensions of Democratic Design (form, function, sustainability, low price, and quality). Together, you will co-create the final home furnishing product, through a customer centric approach, by engaging the full capabilities of the value chain to deliver products with unique IKEA identity.
As a Product Design Developer, you will:
Qualifications
We expect you to have a university degree in a design discipline or product development or equivalent knowledge and an extensive knowledge of textile material, product construction and production. You also have several years of experience in working with product design development and range building with an entrepreneurial approach. We see that you are an expert in current trends / movements, colors, materials and customer needs, with the ability to transform this knowledge into the products that have a clear IKEA identity.
You are a great collaborator who enjoys working closely with team members. Someone with the ability to work with conceptual ideas, who can turn these into final solutions and lead the content of the project from start to end, bringing different functions together. You have great communication skills. As you are going to work in an international context, you are fluent in English, both verbal and in written.
As a person, you are curious about the needs and dreams of consumers and their life at home. You get motivated by finding new ways of working. You are energetic, driven and determined, and you enjoy working at a fast pace.

This role is a permanent position based in Älmhult, Sweden. We believe in togetherness as one of our key values, one of the ways we do this is by being physically together and spending the majority of the time in the office.
In the role as Product Developer you are expected to travel occasionally to our suppliers in different parts of the world.

- Lead product development projects with both vision and action, delivering to a profitable business and to our goals
- Transform the knowledge of life at home to insights on product level
- When applicable, utilize existing platforms, shared solutions, standard colors and materials to design for the lowest price possible
- Identify and enable stories of the product design development to be used in communication
- Contribute in creating a high performing project team built on trust
- Take part in creating the Range and Portfolio plan
